Ligia Ruiz Ballesteros

Master’s degree in Medical Physics from the University of Seville (Spain), with specialized training in radiotherapy and radiation protection, and over 17 years of clinical experience. She has extensive knowledge of quality control of ionizing radiation generating equipment and treatment techniques such as conformal radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, and high-dose-rate 3D brachytherapy. She also has experience in the implementation and commissioning of treatment equipment and new treatment techniques. She is knowledgeable in radiation protection and national legislation for the licensing and authorization of services before regulatory entities. She is responsible for the physical aspects of the quality assurance program, both for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. She collaborates in defining purchasing specifications for treatment units, imaging systems, and treatment planning systems. She is responsible for the calibration of treatment units and verification of the activity of radioactive sources according to protocols.
