At Centro Oncológico Antioquia, bone marrow transplant is a key option in the treatment of various types of cancer. With a highly specialized team, we offer:
Transplant
Bone marrow transplant is a complementary therapy for patients with certain types of cancer. It involves collecting stem cells—usually found in the bone marrow or peripheral blood—filtering them, and then returning them to the patient (autologous) or to another compatible individual (allogeneic).
Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant
In this type of transplant, the patient’s own hematopoietic stem cells are collected before receiving high-dose cancer treatment that destroys them.
Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplant
In this procedure, the stem cells come from a donor who is either related or unrelated but compatible with the patient.
